Position Overview

The Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for working closely with the Account Managers in a customer facing role to develop solutions including the proposed hardware, software, and professional services in order meet customer business requirements. The position is also responsible for writing proposals, tender responses, product/solution presentations and demonstrations, workshops, as well as working with the Operations Leadership Team for validating configurations and solutions.


This position reports to the Vice President, Sales & Marketing.


Duties/Responsibilities

· Works with Account Managers to identify opportunities and qualify customer requirements;

· Assists Account Managers in coordinating “technology updates” to customers;

· Gathers customer requirements and recommends cost effective configuration against the solution designs consistent with the companies products and services

· Creates Bill of Materials, Quotes, and Proposals for Clients and Prospects;

· Works with Account Managers to develop account and product strategy, if required;

· Ensures accurate delivery of configuration documents and solution specifications;

· Validates Solution and configuration for complex quotations and proposals;

· Supports pre-sales activities such as customer presentations and demonstrations;

· Effectively manages relationship and works with vendor partners;

· Assists in identifying and leveraging partner resources in satisfying customer requirements;

· Supports the design and development of the technical content defined in the Statement of Work;

· Develops and maintains product and technology knowledge for our Data Center Services,

· Participates as needed as a technical expert / trusted advisor in the pre-sales qualification process;

· Participates in requirements gathering for project engagements;


Education & Experience Required

· A minimum three to five (3-5) years of experience working with hardware, software, and professional services

· Highly self-motivated contributor with proven track record of obtaining results without significant direct report authority assigning tasks;

  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously;
  • Easily adapts to new or different changing situations, requirements, or priorities;
  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills to Trusted Advisor / Subject Matter Expert, with the ability to work well as an individual and collaboratively within a team;
  • Personal drive to continually grow and enhance skills, knowledge, and scope of responsibilities;
  • Displays a high degree of initiative and effective organization and time management skills;
  • Detail and quality oriented, self-directed, with problem solving ability;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent;
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio, Office, and ConnectWise (nice to have).


Skills & Competencies

· Comprehensive understanding of the sales process and sales life cycles;

· Knowledge of consultative approach for requirement gathering and analysis;

· Technical knowledge on disciplines with multiple technologies, in particular server, network and storage;

· Ability to discuss and whiteboard architecture and solutions, with an ability to tailor the message to the audience;

· Understanding of professional services and experience in developing Bill of Materials, Statements of Work and Proposals;

· Strong presentation and technical writing skills;

· Familiarity with RFP process;

· Attention to detail and accuracy;

· Strong time management and organizational skills;

· Strong problem-solving skills;

· Ability to exercise independent judgment;

· Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines;

· Excellent communication skills both oral and written
